Rope Technician Course - Nipsta’s rope rescue operations program is designed to exceed the requirements outlined by the illinois office of the state fire marshal osfm, and provides students with the basic knowledge and skills needed to perform basic rope rescue at the nfpa 1006 operations level. Covers nfpa 1006 chapter 5 (rope rescue) operations and technician level skills. Complex elevated or high angle rope rescue operations require advanced rope skills. Our technical ropes courses meet the requirements for the nfpa 2500 standard at operations level (rro) and at the technician level (rrt) for technical rope incidents. The intent of this course is to train participants to the nfpa 1006 technician level for rope rescue. These courses cover rope rescue objectives as defined by nfpa 1670 and 1006. Ascending and descending past knots. This technical rope rescue course is designed to take students from basic high angle rope rescue skills to progressively more vertical systems and scenarios. At the technician level, students will be required to build rope systems in a high angle rescue environment that includes an “attendant” to be attached to the rescue load. At each level of our rope access training courses, you will learn both how to perform rope maneuvers and rescues as well as how to analyze rope access systems.

There are three levels of certification available to interested rope access technicians. Course topics for level 1 include equipment selection, maintenance, and record keeping. We offer rope rescue operations and rope rescue technician courses. Through the course students will learn necessary skills to build advanced rope systems, perform patient packaging, conduct vertical and horizontal movements of loads, and supervise scene mitigation techniques for high complexity incidents. The illinois fire service institute's rope rescue program offers two levels of rope training. Rope partner certifies to the u.s. Level 1 basic rope rescue and level 2 advanced rope rescue techniques.
